The brief was to extend the outdoor space with a lightweight construction to allow light in and yet to provide solid protection from the elements.

An experimental structure was built from reclaimed timber. The keep the structure erect we elected to use stainless steel wire rope in much the same way as a yachts mast is kept upright.

The construction was so successful that a week after completion it survived a severe rain storm.
